Nutritionally-balanced milk substitute for squirrels. The perfect formula for hand-feeding orphaned squirrels and other rodents that have high levels of fat and protein in their milk. Specially formulated to match the composition of the mother squirrel’s milk, Wombaroo is a high-energy milk with high levels of fat and protein to support growth and weight gain.
Australian made high-quality milk replacers. Wombaroo’s team of experts has worked since 1984 to develop scientifically backed premium milk replacers and food for exotic animals. Wombaroo has developed products specifically for zoos and captive breeding programs to support wildlife conservation projects worldwide.
To make 30mL of milk: Mix 1 level scoop of powder (7.5g) with 25mL of warm water.
To make the entire package of milk: Mix 240g of powder with 800mL of warm water.
First, add half the water to the powder and mix into a paste. Then add the remaining water and mix thoroughly. Pre-boil the water to ensure it is sterilized. If the water is too hot it can cause the milk to curdle. If it is too cold then it will be difficult to disperse the powder. An electric whisk can be used for mixing larger quantities.
Milk can be refrigerated for up to one day or frozen for up to 2 weeks. You can save time by making larger quantities and storing it frozen in small portions (e.g. ice cube trays), so that the required daily feed volumes can be easily thawed out. Once thawed, discard any unused milk, and wash feeding utensils thoroughly.
Warm milk to about 95°F (35°C) and feed from a syringe or nipple.
Feed every 2 hours for the first week of age, reducing this to every 3 hours by two weeks of age and every 4 hours by four weeks of age.
5-7% Feeding Rule: Weigh the baby on a scale in grams; multiply that number by 5% (0.05) to determine the number of mL’s to feed per feeding. You may need to start with smaller feedings and work up to 5% after a few feedings. Once the baby is eating well and able to digest 5% quickly, you can gradually move up to feeding them 7% at a time. Please review the Baby Squirrel Care Guide or call a rehabber for advice on caring for young orphaned squirrels.
Stimulate young squirrels to urinate and defecate after each feed. To avoid dehydration in hot weather, give drinks of water between feeds. Always provide access to drinking water once eyes are open and young become active.
See back of the box for dosing instructions.
Whole milk solids, whey protein, casein, vegetable oils, omega-3 & omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, C, D3, E, K, biotin, choline, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc, iron, manganese, copper, iodine, selenium.
Analysis
My squirrel is one happy fed girl.
They love it
I love this product as it cover all needs of baby squirrel and itvis only one instant formula on market and passed rigorous testing in labs. It doesn't tastes sweet but babies accept and grown nicely
I purchased this because another reviewer stated it was a great formula for pinkies and can definitely agree! Would recommend reading Henry’s page on formula preparation (to make a paste) before making - I didn’t make the paste and felt like the formula wasn’t mixed very well. Even though it’s a little pricey: no bloat and no diarrhea means one happy squirrel mom!
I was nervous to give this a try because of bloat and past experiences with other formulas, but boy I'm glad I did. This is going to be my new go to formula for pinkies.
