Ideal for baby squirrels from 4 weeks of age through weaning. Fox Valley Formula 20/50 is also ideal for flying squirrels, rats, and mice. This rehabber-approved powdered milk formula produces better weight gain, fewer digestive problems, and better acceptance than most other formulas.

Fox Valley Formula 20/50 mixes easily, smells wonderful, and there is no need to supplement the formula with any added cream, yogurt, or probiotics.

Henry’s is the largest distributor Fox Valley Animal Nutrition, a leading milk replacer manufacturer for orphaned animals. Fox Valley uses only high-quality human-grade ingredients to create milk replacers that closely match the specific composition of the mother’s milk in order to assure proper nutrition and growth.

Mix 1 part powder to 2 parts warm water and feed 4 to 6 times a day. To determine the correct amount, see guidelines below or view the Baby Squirrel Care Guide. Gradually decrease both the quantity of milk formula and number of feedings per day as weaning approaches (around 16 weeks).

    • Add powder to warm water (approximately 100°F or 37.7°C).
    • Blend until powder is evenly mixed.
    • Place in refrigerator for approximately 8 hours to fully reconstitute.
    • Mixing directions are based on volume, not weight measurements.
    • Store any leftover formula in refrigerator and feed within 24 hours.

Unused formula powder should be stored in a cool dry place, preferably the refrigerator, and is good until the expiration date printed on the label.

    5-7% Feeding Rule

Weigh the baby on a scale in grams; multiply that number by 5% (0.05) to determine the number of mL’s to feed per feeding. You may need to start with smaller feedings and work up to 5% after a few feedings. Once the baby is eating well and able to digest 5% quickly, you can gradually move up to feeding them 7% at a time. Please review the Baby Squirrel Care Guide or call a rehabber for advice on caring for young orphaned squirrels.

    Day one formula 20/50

I have started this formula at 5 eeeks for a baby squirrel I’ve have since 3-4 weeks. I did notice that the fat content in this formula seems alittle high, that’s only my opion I’m not a professional. He’s feces before were the right color( brown) and not extremely hard. Feeding this has made the feces a lighter pale color of whitish pale green? It also became very hard. I’m thinking it was because of the fat content? He’s doing fine, but I’m thinking he’s getting a little constipated. It has put weight on him, but if the color and consistency continues, might try some apple juice. He is close to weaning, he is 8 weeks now and hopefully things will resolve and I won’t have to change formulas. I’m not saying it’s bad formula just worried about the stool color and consistly. Like I said I’m not a professional so this all might be fine.
