Capstar (nitenpyram) is an antiparasitic treatment that kills maggots, maggot eggs, and fleas on pets and wildlife. Capstar can be given internally or externally and begins working in as little as 30 minutes. Each box of Capstar includes 6 tablets.
*Capstar is designed to treat active infestations - it should never be given as a preventative medicine.
Capstar is ideal for treating flystrike in animals. Flystrike, also known as myiasis, is caused by flies laying their eggs on or inside the body of an animal. When the eggs hatch into larvae, they begin eating the host body from the inside and this can be a deadly parasitic infection, especially for small orphaned wildlife who have not been cared for by their mothers for a period of time.
Directions: A single dose (1 full tablet) of Capstar should kill the adult fleas present on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested with fleas, you can safely give another dose as often as once per day. Please refer to the package insert for complete information.
Capstar is safe for use in dogs and puppies who weigh at least 2 pounds and are at least 4 weeks of age. Weigh your pet prior to giving medicine to ensure proper dosage. This dosage of Capstar, 11.4 mg per tablet, is only designed for animals weighing less than 25 pounds. If you have a larger animal, you will need to seek out Capstar's formula for larger dogs.
Any questions about flea control or medical problems associated with flea infestations should be directed to your veterinarian.
*Capstar is designed to treat active infestations - it should never be given as a preventative medicine.
Directions: Crush ¼ of a tablet, dissolve in 1 mL of very warm water and give orally by syringe. Repeat this again the next day.
To treat flystrike: Start by removing all of the eggs from the animal's skin. Then administer an oral dose following the instructions above. Crush ½ tablet in 2 mL of water and apply externally anywhere maggots/eggs are visible, especially ears, nose, eyes, or anus.

Worked really good
I use this for my 7 year old rescue squirrel Oliver and it works great!!
My cat decided to bring my dog a couple friends home. Yep fleas…..one Capstar and fleas …zip.. gone.
Works quick and efficient! Will be buying again! :)
First time trying the pill, I notice my dog less biting/scratching. Hopefully it helps her
