Henry’s is proud to carry Miracle Nipples, the premier name-brand nursing nipples for small and medium mammals. Trusted by wildlife rehabbers for well over a decade, Miracle Nipples are designed to provide a natural nursing experience. Made from high-quality materials to ensure durability and longevity, the Miracle Nipples are latex-free and 100% safe for wildlife. Soft yet sturdy, Miracle Nipples are available in four sizes to help cater to everything from small mice to large dog breeds.

Because of the natural rubber used, some variation in color is normal.

Sizing

Make sure you have the right size Miracle Nipple for your baby.

The Mini size is ideal for very small mammals like mice, newborn squirrels and bunnies, chipmunks, red squirrels, and flying squirrels. Minis are also great for very small kittens, especially cat breeds with flatter faces (like Persians).

The Original size is suitable for small animals like older baby squirrels, bunnies, toy breed puppies, opossums (though they primarily lap at milk or require feeding tubes when they are very young), and other babies similar in size.

The Small Puppy size works for young small and medium-breed puppies, while the Large Puppy nipples work for large breeds and other similar-sized mammals.

Using the Miracle Nipples

Miracle Nipples are easy to use - follow these steps to make feeding simple and successful.

Slip the Miracle Nipple onto the feeding syringe or bottle. Miracle Nipples fit all standard luer-lock tips and both 0.5 mL and 1 mL slip-tip syringes. If you are using a small slip-tip syringe, you need to push the tip of the syringe further up into the nipple for it to fit snuggly.

Hold the mammal in a slightly upright, comfortable position ensuring their head is supported. Gently introduce the tip of the nipple to the baby’s mouth, letting them latch onto it themselves. If you have a little drop of milk on the end of the nipple, that can help encourage the baby to latch on.

We always recommend using an O-ring syringe instead of a bottle at first. Most very small mammals should only be fed by syringe with a nursing nipple, not a bottle. Syringes allow you to safely control the flow and liquid - which is vital for preventing the baby from getting too much fluid at once and risking aspiration. Press slowly on the syringe to release a drop or two at a time and adjust the flow as necessary once the baby is latched on and nursing. In many cases, you may need to hold back the plunger if the baby is suckling too hard and getting too much formula at once.

Always clean the nipple after each feeding, according to the “Upkeep and Care” instructions.

Upkeep and Care

Following these simple instructions will help keep your Miracle Nipples in good condition and help them last.

  1. Before and after each use, thoroughly clean the Miracle Nipples with warm soapy water.
  2. Rinse the nipples thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
  3. Do not let the nipples soak in the soap water for too long. Doing so will expand the rubber, and the nipple will not fit as snuggly onto the syringe. The nipple should be totally dried before using it for the next feeding.
  4. Regularly inspect the nipples for any signs of wear or damage. If you notice any cracks or tears, replace the nipple immediately.
  5. Store the Miracle Nipples in a clean and dry place to prevent contamination.
