    Pure calcium carbonate in an easy-to-use powdered form. Calcium supplements are essential for treating Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD), which is fatal when left untreated. Henry’s only uses the finest human-quality calcium available for our calcium supplements. 

    Note: Calcium supplements are only needed when the squirrel suffers from calcium deficiency. Squirrels who are eating Henry’s Blocks receive their daily dose of calcium through the Blocks and do not need additional supplementation.

    We’re so happy to hear the calcium is helping! We know that having a squirrel with MBD is a very stressful and scary situation, so we’re eager to help however we can. MBD recovery times can vary greatly, depending on how severe the case was before treatment began and other factors like their diet. We recommend anyone worried about MDB take a look at our Healthy Diet for Pet Squirrels handout on our website. The guide helps make sure your squirrels are not only eating safe foods and plenty of veggies but also helps guarantee that they are not getting too much phosphorus in their diet, as that hampers the body’s ability to break down and conserve calcium.

    If you are still not seeing significant progress in your squirrel’s health after a couple of weeks, we recommend speaking with a veterinarian or experienced wildlife rehabber to see if there may be additional complications with your squirrel’s health. If you need help finding a rehabber who is knowledgeable about squirrels, please give us a call and we will put you in touch with one of our trusted experts!
