Beyond the Blocks: The Resources That Make Henry’s Truly Different
There’s a lot of chatter when it comes to Henry’s. Over the years, we’ve become a trusted resource for first-time squirrel finders and seasoned wildlife rehabilitators alike. We’re not trying to toot our own horn, but let’s be honest, most folks think we’re pretty great.
That reputation doesn’t come from cutting corners. It comes from constantly pushing ourselves to do things better than expected.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our small but mighty team, Henry’s runs like a well-oiled machine. We’re a group of perfectionists, overachievers, and problem-solvers, the kind who are always looking for ways to improve, even when something already works well. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of connecting with an incredible community of wildlife rehabilitators who’ve shared their experiences, challenges, and insights with us.
Most people know Henry’s for our Blocks and the supplies we carry, and we love that. What doesn’t always get the spotlight are the additional resources we’ve built to support the people doing this work. These tools exist because we understand how overwhelming wildlife care can be, and because we genuinely care about helping you do it well.
Below are some of the most important support systems we offer.
Squirrel Hotline
If you’ve found a baby squirrel, this should be your very first phone call.
Our Squirrel Hotline connects you directly with an experienced wildlife rehabilitator, any hour of the day. You can ask questions, get step-by-step guidance, and feel confident that you’re taking the right actions during moments that can feel stressful or uncertain.
This hotline exists for one simple reason. No one should have to navigate an emergency alone.
Baby Care Guide
Our Baby Care Guide is the go-to resource for anyone caring for a squirrel under six weeks of age.
Inside, you’ll find everything you need to confidently manage those early stages of care, from estimating age and understanding basic do’s and don’ts, to warmth, hydration, safe handling, proper formula, feeding schedules, and what to expect as the squirrel develops.
The guide is included with both of our Henry’s Baby Kits, each designed to help you get started with the right tools and information from day one.
Weaning Guide
The Weaning Guide is designed for squirrels six weeks of age and older, the stage when formula alone is no longer enough and solid foods begin to play a larger role.
This guide walks you through maintaining an appropriate formula schedule while introducing Henry’s Blocks as a squirrel’s first solid food. Beyond feeding, it also covers cage setup, care for older juveniles, and the full process of pre-release and post-release care.
Think of it as a practical roadmap for the second half of the rehabilitation journey.
Healthy Diet Guide
The Healthy Diet Guide provides clear, practical insight into what a healthy squirrel should actually be eating.
The idea that squirrels live on nuts alone is a common myth, and one that can lead to serious health problems. A proper diet is built on fresh vegetables and Henry’s Blocks, with nuts and fruits offered only as occasional treats.
This guide outlines which vegetables are safe and beneficial, how often to serve them, and includes a list of safe wild foods that support natural foraging and enrichment.
Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) Kit & Guide
Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) is a condition that can be fatal if left untreated, but with early intervention, it is highly manageable.
When a squirrel begins showing signs of MBD, immediate treatment is critical. Henry’s provides both a comprehensive MBD Treatment Guide and a carefully curated MBD Kit to support prompt, effective care. The guide helps caregivers recognize symptoms, understand the condition, and follow appropriate treatment steps, while the kit includes the products needed to aid in recovery.
With proper care and timely intervention, most squirrels begin showing improvement within just a few days.
This resource was created to help caregivers act quickly and confidently in a situation where time truly matters, because the right support at the right moment can save a life.
Henry’s Registry for Wildlife Rehabilitators
Wildlife rehabilitation is deeply rewarding work, and it is also resource-intensive. To help bridge that gap, Henry’s created the Henry’s Registry for Rehabilitators.
The Registry allows licensed wildlife rehabilitators to share a curated list of essential supplies they regularly use and need. Supporters can then choose items directly from a rehabilitator’s registry, ensuring their contributions go toward exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed.
For rehabilitators, it’s a practical way to receive targeted support. For donors, it’s a meaningful way to help, with confidence that their generosity is making a direct impact on animal care.
The Registry exists to strengthen the connection between rehabilitators and the communities that support them, making it easier for everyone to play a role in wildlife care.
In Closing
At Henry’s, our mission goes far beyond supplying products. We are committed to supporting the people who care for wildlife.
These guides and resources were created because we understand how challenging, fast-paced, and unpredictable wildlife rehabilitation can be. Whether you’re helping a newly found baby, treating a medical emergency, or preparing a healthy squirrel for release, our goal is for you to feel informed, equipped, and supported every step of the way.
We’re proud to stand alongside the wildlife rehabilitation community, and we’ll continue doing the work that helps give these animals their best possible chance at life in the wild.
