Description

Wombaroo Squirrel Milk Replacer is a nutritionally-balanced milk substitute for squirrels. The formula is perfect for hand-feeding orphaned squirrels and other rodents that have high levels of fat and protein in their milk. Specially formulated to match the composition of the mother squirrel’s milk, Wombaroo is a high-energy milk with high levels of fat and protein to support growth and weight gain.

Wombaroo

Henry’s is proud to partner with Wombaroo to provide a variety of high-quality milk replacers made in Australia. Wombaroo’s team of experts have worked since 1984 to develop scientifically-backed premium milk replacers and food for exotic animals. Wombaroo has developed several products specifically for zoos and captive breeding programs to support wildlife conservation projects around the world.

Mixing and Storage Guidelines

To make 30mL of milk: Mix 1 level scoop of powder (7.5g) with 25mL of warm water.

To make the entire package of milk: Mix 240g of powder with 800mL of warm water.

First, add half the water to the powder and mix into a paste. Then add the remaining water and mix thoroughly. Pre-boil the water to ensure it is sterilized. If the water is too hot it can cause the milk to curdle. If it is too cold then it will be difficult to disperse the powder. An electric whisk can be used for mixing larger quantities.

Milk can be stored in the fridge for up to one day or can be frozen for up to 2 weeks. It is useful to make-up larger quantities and store it frozen in small portions (e.g. ice cube trays), so that the required daily feed volumes can be easily thawed out. Once thawed out, discard any unused milk, and wash feeding utensils thoroughly.

Feeding Guide

Warm milk to about 95°F and feed from a syringe or nipple. Feed every 2 hours for the first week of age, reducing this to every 3 hours by two weeks of age and every 4 hours by four weeks of age.

Stimulate young squirrels to urinate and defecate after each feed. To avoid dehydration in hot weather, give drinks of water between feeds. Always provide access to drinking water once eyes are open and young become active.

Purchased because of another review - for pinkies

Posted by Katherine on 12th Feb 2024

I purchased this because another reviewer stated it was a great formula for pinkies and can definitely agree! Would recommend reading Henry’s page on formula preparation (to make a paste) before making - I didn’t make the paste and felt like the formula wasn’t mixed very well. Even though it’s a little pricey: no bloat and no diarrhea means one happy squirrel mom!

    Very good formula for pinkies

I was nervous to give this a try because of bloat and past experiences with other formulas, but boy I'm glad I did. This is going to be my new go to formula for pinkies.

    Excellent Milk Replacer

Posted by Suzanne Enyedy on 19th Aug 2023

I have been using Wombaroo’s Squirrel Milk Replacer for several years - ever since it was developed and arrived in the USA. Before that I used their Sugar Glider MR for about 15 years when I was breeding gliders. I have always been very impressed with Wombaroo’s milk replacers and they continue to be my go-to formula.
