Mixing and Storage Guidelines: Mix 1 part powder to 2 parts warm water and feed 4 to 6 times a day. To determine the correct amount, see guidelines below or visit the Baby Squirrel Care Guide

  • Add powder to warm water (approx. 100°F).
  • Blend until powder is dispersed in water.
  • Feed soon after mixing.
  • Mixing directions are based on volume, not weight, measurements.
  • Store any leftover formula in the refrigerator and feed within 24 hours.

Unused formula powder should be stored in a cool dry place, preferably the refrigerator, and is good until the expiration date printed on the back of the bag.

For Squirrels:
Not recommended for squirrels younger than 2 weeks.

Follow the 7% Feeding Rule: Weigh the baby on a scale in grams; multiply that number by 7% (0.07) to determine the number of mL’s to feed per feeding. You may need to start with smaller feedings at first and work up to 7% after a few feedings, especially for emaciated babies. At 5 weeks of age, gradually switch to Fox Valley Formula 20/50.

For Eastern Cottontails:
Feed 1-1 1/2 teaspoons per one ounce bodyweight daily, divided into 2 to 4 feedings.
For Opossums:
Feed 1 1/2-2 teaspoons per ounce bodyweight daily, divided into 6 to 8 feedings. At about 45 grams body weight, gradually switch to Fox Valley Formula 25/30.
